Mario Movie

With the new Super Mario Bros. Movie coming out soon, the hype around Mario is back all over again — and it feels like the perfect moment for Nintendo to take the next step:
Turn the new movie into its own full video game.

Nintendo already proved that Mario works amazingly in film, and with the second movie on the way, the timing couldn’t be better. The first movie created a whole new Mario universe, and everything we’ve seen from the new one looks even bigger.

Official movie announcement from Nintendo

The New Movie Has Even Bigger World-Building

One thing about the upcoming Mario movie is that it expands the Mushroom Kingdom even more than the first one. From the early teasers and artwork:

  • Peach gets a bigger role
  • Bowser has a whole upgraded army
  • The environments look more detailed
  • New characters from the Mario games are showing up

This already looks like the blueprint for an open-world Mario experience.
The new movie literally looks like a playable world.

What a Mario Movie Game (Based on the NEW Movie) Could Look Like

1. A Bigger, More Open Mushroom Kingdom

The new movie shows new areas — forests, caves, huge castle zones — perfect for an Odyssey-style map.

2. Co-op Story Mode

Mario and Luigi stick together more in this movie.
This could finally give us a two-player campaign.

3. Peach as a Fully Playable Character

Everyone saw how good Peach looked in the movie.
She deserves her own combat + magic abilities in the game.

4. Boss Fights Straight From the Movie

Imagine fights like:

  • Bowser’s powered-up form
  • Giant Koopa robots
  • Movie-inspired special abilities

5. Movie Music + New Level Themes

Nintendo ALWAYS kills the music.
The movie soundtrack in a game? Instant chills.

Why Nintendo Should Do It (Especially Now)

With the new Mario movie dropping soon, this is the perfect time for a Mario Movie Game because:

  • The fanbase is HUGE right now
  • Kids + adults loved the first movie
  • Mario is trending again
  • It builds hype for upcoming Mario titles (like Odyssey 2)

If Nintendo released a movie-based Mario game right after the film, it would literally explode online.

Nintendo has already done cross-media stuff with:

  • Pokémon
  • Detective Pikachu
  • Mario Wonder promotional games
So a Mario Movie Game sounds like the next big move.

My Take

The new Super Mario movie looks even better than the first one, and the world-building already feels like a foundation for a game. If Nintendo ever wanted to make a Mario game based on a film, this is the moment.

Until then, I’ll just be waiting for that final trailer drop and imagining the perfect Mario movie game in my head.
